Health Freak
Noisy neighbour?
I have just reported a neighbour because I can hear him beating his children (they visit him on the weekend) and the kids are scremin so much that it scares me.

He also plays loud music at 4'o clock in the morning

Plus, he has a woman come round and she makes alot of noise during sex, so much so, that I can hear it on the street when I walk to the shops.

I have reported him to the housing officer, because it is not on,

He lives below us, we live in a block of flats

what could happen, could he lose his tenancy?

The first thing you need to do is record what you hear and document everything very well. The next thing you need to do is call CPS about those poor children. They should not, for any reason, be beaten at all.

In regards to the loud music, you can always call the police, file a formal complaint and show them your documentation and evidence. And, after you file the complaint, file a complaint with your landlord. Your landlord has the ability to evict this person if he is in violation of his contract. Albeit, he needs to show just cause.

He could lose his tenancy yes but only if he ignores the warnings and doesn't keep the noise down. Why should you have to put up with his noise and be terrified in your own home?I had a problem with my noisy neighbour and he kept getting warnings which resulted in him wanting to move.

Call the police. who cares if he loses his tenancy if he beats his kids. He deserves a tenancy with iron bars

If he is beating his kids then you must call the police A.S.A.P, dont wait till he does it again, do it now.

Also tell them about the other noise he creates at odd times of the night. I had a similar problem with a young bloke who got the house next door (I live in a Semi and he had the house joined on to mine) You name it, it went on in his house, very loud parties every weekend, lasting 1-2 days sometimes, massive fights, stabbings he even rapped another man a few years younger than him. It took 4 years for him to be thrown out after several chances to keep quiet etc.

Do not let him know it was you who called the authorities, just call the police and make sure they know that kids are being beaten. I have kids of my own and this sort of thing makes me sick.... good job he doesnt live next to me as i would sort him out myself.

Hopefully he will be locked up or at the very least have his children taken away from him and kicked out the flat.

Good luck.

Keep a diary and phone the police when he's beating the kids...

Also, you could tease him a little - when the noisy sex is going on, jump up and down on the bed and make even louder noises (this is what i did to my neighbour). Also, put your speaker on the floor and play some loud music. Something like Luka by Suzanne Vega to really take the piss. OR (and this is my favourite) - get an electric guitar and amp, turn everything on, prop the guitar up against the amp and go out for the day...

This neighbour - he's not a black guy called Simon, is he?

He will get warnings and if he doesn't comply and the complaints still keep coming in, then yes he will be evicted. However, it is a long drawn out process. I think you'd be in a better position if he was evicted! How distressing to hear the children, and if that is what is happening to make them so distressed, I'd be onto Social Services and the Police pretty damned quick. There's nothing much you can do about the nookie - she's probably just showing off anyway! But those children sound as though they need some help - better safe than sorry in this sad world.

The council should give you ' Diary Sheets ' you have to put in all the times he makes unreasonable noise, yes he could be evicted, do other neighbours complain too, that would help your case. --- You should phone ENVIRONMENTAL when he has the music on at 4am, they have the right to confiscate his cd player.

Im a letting agent before the tenants can move in, they would have signed a tenancy agreement which should have a clause in there stating quiet enjoyment noise levels between 11pm and 7am (this where no one can make noise) I would mention to the agent where they are renting from about the noise levels and the agent can remind them that they are in breach of there tenancy agreement and noise levels must be kept to a minimum level. The agent will send a letter out to the tenants as well. Its up to the landlord if he wants to keep the tenants, the agent should tell the landlord as well and let him
decide what route he would like to go down.
Good luck with it...

He could but will probably just get a warning. Keep a diary of every time he makes a noise and how long it lasts for. This will help if you have to take further action. It can often take years to get something done about neighbours like this.
As for the beating of the children, i would be inclined to report him to social services if you think they are being abused.

*twinkle*
Phone the police and tell them your concern about the kids.

They will probably inform social services and they will take it from there. Your details will be kept confidential.

Don't worry about the other stuff for now, that can be dealt with later.
THINK OF THOSE POOR CHILDREN!! YOU'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING! good luck x

**Please don't do what ''SundaeG1rl'' suggests (although she probably means well) because that will make you as bad as them, which will distroy your credibility when it comes to complaining to the housing office**

You should call the police. Why wouldn't you do that? His children are in danger and you don't think that calling the police who can stop his abuse is the right thing to do? COME ON - he doesn't need to just lose his apartment, he needs to go to jail. Child abuse is NOT OKAY!
Tsk tsk!
CALL THE POLICE
