Our realtor is showing our home today and I left 2 dishes in the sink and a bar of soap in the bathroom sink.?
Do you think this will make or break a person's decison on buying the home? It was a last minute showing and I'm at work and can't go home to pick it up!

I would not think that would make or break a decision. If someone really likes the house they will look over those small things.

When we were looking for a house we saw several messes that were just inexcusable, yours does not even come close and would not be a problem.

I have seen homes for sale where clothes were spread through the whole house, the sink was full of dishes, the yard was filled with cars(yep, cars), wood, the deck was not finished, the grass needed mowed, etc. etc. I am sure you are doing a great job...don't worry!

If anyone uses that as an excuse not to buy your house then it is unlikely they would have bought it anyway. But if it bothers you; call your Realtor and have them hide those items for you. Good luck selling your house

so it looks lived in. i wouldn't worry. not like you left a sink full of dishes or dirty laundry laying around.

These are smal items that you do not have to worry about. If your realtor has a problem with the items that you left in the sink, then he/she should be a good enough agent to move the items so the the prospective buyers will not see them.

This should in no way affect the sale of your home.

Anyone that wanted to buy a house and didn't make an offer because of 2 dishs in the sink and a bar of soap in the bathroom is nuts. Don't worry about it.

It will not make a difference. They expect you to be living in therefore your stuff to be there and maybe a couple dishes. Now i hope the sink is not over flowing then i would tell the Realtor not to show it.

People usually realize that someone is living in a house that they are going to take a look at. If those are the only problems, people probably will not be turned off.

I recently purchased a house and many of the houses we looked at were horribly messy. Garbage laying around, cigarette butts in ashtrays on the coffee table, etc, etc.

As long as your house is mostly clean, people will see around a couple of dishes in the sink and a bar of soap in the bathroom.

Was your home otherwise clean? It looks, I would think, like another "human being" lives there. I don't see that you have a problem. You should have a positive attitude and look forward to good results. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, WHO can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless.

OMG! That will probably cost you at least $24,000 off the asking! What were you thinking! lol (laugh out loud)...
Just kidding, no don't worry about it. If your Realtor is worth their weight, they would have put it away for you before the buyer saw it! Even if they do see it, they understand that you live in your and will probably be greatful that you use soap! Oh and dishes too!

No, that would not affect you. Price is the number one reason your home might not sell,

You need good curb appeal, limit the amount of clutter and personal items etc... But a couple of dishes in the sink will not affect you. Dirty homes, dirty clothes strewn on the floors, animal smells that will make a buyer turn around and walk out.

Ask your real estate agent if he/she can get there a few minutes before the prospective buyers and hide the dishes and soap.
It's not a deal breaker!

Lord no. I would NOT stress out over that.

This will not make a difference to someone who really wants to buy your house. Hopefully your realtor is showing it to someone like that. This is a difficult market to sell in and you are correct to think of things like this...perhaps it gives you the impetus to take a look at your home from a new buyers point of view...Have you done everything else possible to make your house the best that it can be? Decluttering your stuff is the # 1 problem that most sellers have...because after all they do live there.

Tammi D
you disgusting pig. i'll never buy your house. do you hear me? never!

for the record, the dishes i can understand, but who leaves a bar of soap in the sink?

personally, i know it's stupid...but it would affect my decision as a homebuyer. the homeowner knows that the house is for sale and can have a showing at anytime. they have to pay extra special attention to the house to keep it clean at ALL times cause when you least expect it, there'll be a showing and you won't be prepared. never leave a mess in your house when your trying to sell it. I see that and I'd think "the homeowner is trying to SELL the house to me and it's messy...how did they treat the house under normal circumstances?!"
