Depends where you live. Though when i was looking to move out of my parents house back in January i just wanted a rough idea, so this is how much i spend a month:

1 bedroom flat: £425

Council tax: £83.00 (Single person discount of 25%)

Car tax: £10.00

Car Insurance: £71.48

Petrol: £20.00 (Petrol is so low because i currently live 10 minutes from work. Though when they move the office to a location that is a 30 minute drive away, i expect to very roughly spend £60 to £70)

MOT: £4.16

Service car: £10.00

RAC: £10.00 (You can exclude this, though i did the aswell and my car broke down for the first time soon after i moved.)

Water: £19.93

Electricity: £25.00 (I didn't use allot of energy over the summer so they carried over the amount of money i saved, which will help in winter. But i aint putting the heating on till at least December, so i expect costs to remain low-ish. Plus when i signed up to E-on they said the £25 estimate is frozen till 2009)

Gas: £25.00 (Ditto)

Food: £120.00 (This a rough estimate, i keep a tab on how much i spend on food and is based on a single person who aint fussed about missing a meal.)

TV licence: £11.29

Internet: £14.99 (Wireless broadband from T-mobile as landlord won't let me have a landline connection)

DVD rental £11.97

Sky: £0 (Because landlord won't get a dish)

Total: £861.82

This is how much it costs me to live in Hyde, Manchester in a one bedroom flat. Hope it gives you a good idea of what to pay, have fun!

EDIT: Oh and as i was writing my answer i could see my breath condensing, plus i have a cotton jacket on and it's only Autumn. Still it beats living with my parents!

I live in a small house and my bills are roughly:

£40 a month electric,
£20 a month gas,
£10 a month water
£11 a month tv licence
£80 a month council tax (i get single person discount, if your living alone make sure you apply for this fom the council, its a 25% reduction)
£40 a month cable, telephone and broadband (deal from virgin media)

Thats all of the major bills, other then food shopping. which you can tailor to yourself.

Mortgage: £350

Gas and Electric - £70

puppymummy
my bills used to be between £75 - £100 per week not including petrol or car running costs, food shopping or clothes, not including my mobile phone - but it did include the landline and internet.

i am quite frugal and dont have the heating on all over the house - only in the room i am using, it was gas heating and cooking which is cheaper than electric.

i like to cook so i used the stove a lot - you may not be a big cook so your bills may be less in that area. Oh and i dont have any children to consider and my laundry was done for free in the provided services in my block.

now i live with my partner and he pays all the billsYIPPEE!! now i can shop til i drop!!

hope this has gone someway to helping you sort out your finances!

It will vary greatly depending on where you live.

http://www.whatprice.co.uk/financial/council-tax.html - This website gives average council tax costs depending on value of property, not size.

Utility bills will be down to usage, but I pay around £100 a month in total for gas, electricity and water rates and we have a 3 bed semi, with 2 adults and a child living in the house.

depends on where you live and what bills are you talking about? if you rent house/like i do, i pay electric/gas/water/garbage and of course rent

tywkessler
What region are you in?
Do you need trash pick-up?
Utilies?
Internet?
Television?

All depends.
