Your father received money from the bank. He needs to repay it. If he refuses, as it seems he is doing, the house forecloses and your family will need to rent a house or apartment somewhere.
No one will bail him out. He is a grown up and knew what he was doing. Ask him what he has planned. |

It must be scary, but you will be able to rent, as another poster points out. You won't have to live under a bridge. And please be wary of contacting anyone here or elsewhere who hears a story such as this and offers to "help" if you e-mail them. |

First find out if your father has been paying the mortgage on time. If not he needs to bring the mortgage payment current. Next he has to find out his current FICO score. After that I can tell you the chances of him being able to get a better rate and/or payment so that you can stay in the home until things get better or until the home is sold. Best of luck. |

There's all kinds of places to get help. The 'foreclosure crisis' has been a big news story for a while now. The federal government is even now working on new programs to help with this. Your parents have to call the bank that holds the mortgage as the first step. The bank would know about state and city programs your parents should check with. |
