lifecryme | She thinks it's INSULTING, but...? |
My parents want to buy her house and are offering $1.2 million. the owner of the house finds this offer "insulting" she's says she's only selling her house for $1.4 million. Yet we just found out that the house she wants to buy is worth $2.1 million and she's giving an offer to those house owners of $1.5 million. So she thinks it's NOT insulting to those owners to give them such a low offer yet our offer is insulting to her? BTW this rich lady doesn't work her husband works, She went on a cruise with her father recently just to ask him for money to help her buy that home for over $2 million but he didn't want to give her so much money. She doesn't want to look for work she just wants to take care of her kids and think we should bowe down to her feet and give her a better offer. Do you think the offer she gave those people is ubber insulting compared to our offer for her house? Additional Details BTW the reason she went to her father is because her father is a mult-millionaire from his own business and now her husband works for her father. |

She's ngegotiating, and she's on the wrong side of the negotiation. Find another house, you as qualified buyers are in control. |

Everyone who is selling their house thinks that it's an insult for someone to make a low-ball offer. Especially if it's some greedy old bag of dirt.
Yes, the offer she made was probably insulting. Let's hope she gets it rubbed right back in her face. |

OK, buying and selling a house is supposed to be a business deal. You need to *completely* let go of all this personal baggage you're bringing into it.
Make an offer. It is either accepted or rejected, PERIOD.
If it is rejected, you either raise your offer, or walk away from the deal. PERIOD.
Whatever the seller is planning to do with the money has nothing to do with your offer. Whatever the seller thinks of your offer has nothing to do with your offer. Whomever the seller goes on a cruise with MOST DEFINITELY has nothing to do with your offer.
You made an offer. It was rejected. The ONLY thing you need to think about now is whether you will raise your offer or walk away from the house and find another one. PERIOD. |

People take offense at low-ball offers. No one likes to feel jilted or like they are being taken advantage of. Your offer would not be an offer I would take seriously either. What she is offering is not an issue, either. |

How she became wealthy has nothing to do with the problem at hand. Perhaps you just cannot figure out how to speak with her to get YOUR way? She is used to getting her way. Be kind to her, and stand on your choice of price.... |

None of what you wrote is relevant, she can choose to accept the offer or not, entirely up to her. Doesn't matter that she doesn't work or is buying a bigger, more expensive home. Who cares that she thinks it's insulting move on! |

This is part of why real estate never seems to operate on any sort of "normal" business practices. If everyone's price was correct, we wouldn't have to bargain. but who would decide that the price was correct.
THere was a big newspaper article about your entire scenario. The buyers wanted to write a letter to the seller explaining their situation. The end of the article was a "letter" from the seller telling the buyers that she's not coming down and she knows the buyers are only fretting because they really really want the house.
Do your parents really want the house?
No one makes lower offers than i do. I am constantly being told that someone is offended. I just say that i didn't mean to offend them. |

You are letting personal feelings cloud good judgment. I hope your parents are more level-headed. |

Her offer to those people is over 25% less than what they are asking. Yours to her is less than 15% less than what she was asking. She is being extremely insulting. Making an offer of 10 to 15% less than asking price is acceptable. |

Well I have to guess in CA. Then F her and her house as the realty values have been and are sinking further with no available credit. hang tough as she will be the one losing in the long run It is not insulting in todays market people have to realize that the prices are dropping, not rising as they did in years before. |
