I have 2 buyers scheduled through agents to show the home today, 1 at 1pm & the other at 2:30pm.The garbage doesn't get collected until 3:30pm.It's windy out and the neighborhood looks like a disaster with trash blown all over the streets,lawns,etc.If I cancel the buyers may find something else but if I don't they won't want to live where it looks like a pig sty.What should I do? |

It sounds like there is a bigger problem at hand if trash get blown around so easily and to such a large extent. But to answer the question, I'd say postpone it until you can make a better showing. |

Clean up the neighborhood and then ask your neighbors to do their part to keep it clean. I'm sure if you explain that you want to leave the fithy place they will gladly help out. |

Tell your listing agent the problem and have her give the message to the buyers' agents. If the buyers are from out of town, they may not be able to come back. Normally agents schedule showings in the area 1/2 - 1 hour apart to do 4-5 showings a day. If they can switch around the showings, it's great. If not, they just have to come by but they will be told there is Trash problem. Buyers' agents should cooperate with you since they want to show attractive houses, too. Maybe you want to stay around and collect trash if they can't change time. |

Set the trash out, If it blows all over, excuse yourself and go pick it up. Tell the people you are showing that the other people with trash blown are due home anytime now and they usually pick theirs up right away. Good Luck. |

Depends on the market in your area. Are there a lot of comparable listings on the market? If so there is a good chance they won't come back, I wouldn't turn away potential buyers. They probably already know what the neighborhood looks like and don't think thats a huge issue. |

Go and show the home. Eventually if they place a bid on the home they will find out how it really is when it comes to trash day. Just explain to them that trash is picked up late. |
