Should I get a home inspection done?
Property values in my neighbourhood have skyrocketed. I bought a fixer upper 4 years ago, did about 45 to 50 k in upgrades including new bathroom, new kitchen, new roof, new 3/4 copper pipes, removed oil furnace and put in new furnace & central air, new flooring, new washer dryer fridge stove, brand new fence in back yard, brand new deck, painted garage, painted all rooms needing it, put up new drywall where needed, have done some landscaping work. I am probably forgetting some stuff already done. after i had most renos done but before i put in a new roof, deck and fence my home was appraised by the bank for twice what i paid for it so I am up approx 35 to 40 percent in value so far in equity, not including the other improvments done. I intend on doing more small improvments, and I am hoping to maybe sell in a year or two. That gives me time to do the small little jobs at ease whenever i have free time. Should I get a home inspection done to see what problems need repair now?

Usually a buyer does an inspection, but you are thinking about it as a way to find what else need to be done, so it's a good idea. More important is the fact that an inspector might point out if something you have done already needs to be "redone" to bring it up to code (if you did a lot of work yourself, you might have done a good job, but are you sure everything is up to code?)
You already have spent a lot of money, so what's another $300 for an inspection? With all the work done to this place, an inspection is a good idea.

I always recommend the home inspection. It will be the best $200-$500 that you can spend.

It is worthwhile to consider getting a home inspection before you sell, just so that there are no surprises when the buyer's inspection is done -you can make the warrantable repairs now and avoid the sometimes stressful negotiation process of who pays for what.

Selling a house, packing and moving, etc., are enough to have on your plate. Try not to add anything that could be done in advance, and you will find the whole process much more enjoyable.

Also, you can use the inspection as a marketing tool - "passed recent home inspection with flying colors," or "New inspection available for review, house is move-in ready." That will certainly catch some positive attention from buyers.

Have you done a radon check? We found after 10 years that we had radon. When we sold we needed to put in a fan to remove the radon.

It wouldn't hurt, and I know a lot of people recommend having a home inspection done every few years anyway just to catch things before they get really expensive to repair. With all the changes you've made, though, sounds like you pretty much have a new house (congrats - I'm jealous because I've always wanted to renovate one). If you trust the people that did the work, I would think the only thing to be inspected would be the foundation, and I'm guessing you probably did that before buying it or at least before sinking more money into it.

I would not worry about it I sell houses and buyers are gonna get one when they decide to buy and they cost like 200 dollars to get one which is what it could cost you to repair. Also there might would be additional things on there that are nothing to you but maybe to potential buyer so no I would not worry about it till then

It wouldn't hurt, but once you get buyers for the home, they will probably get an inspection.

By all means YES. Home inspection is one of the few things out there that isnt a rip off and is very important. You can get a full home inspection for 200-300$ in many cases. Certainly worth it IMO.

didnt u have an inspection doen when u first bought the house? sounds like u have done alot of repairs, but if u plan on staying in that house for a long time and u didnt have an inspection done when u first bought the house, then yes i would have one done. if u plan on selling the house....then dont. its the buyers responsability to pay for an inspection.
