Should I move out or keep living at mom's house?
The advantages to staying here is that I don't pay any rent, so I can save about $15,000 a year for retirement. The disadvantage is that she drives me insane. The embarrasing part is that I'm 34.

Okay Fig I answered your Bono question and saw your dating question. now sweetie 34 at home you are never going to get any action. I am 32 and if I met a man your age living at home I would have to say thanks for playing but NOPE. How do you ever get action? Wait for mom to leave town?? Saving money is great but at 34 you kinda need to grow up and be on your own. Most ppl at your age have their own homes, kids, and life. The idea of living under mom's wing at your age is a total turn off. What are you going to do when you retire take cruises w/mom? I mean really what are you saving for? Move out it will do you so much good.

To answer your question about how to get the british girl or any girl for that matter...move out!!! Get an apartment, roomate something.

Of course you are going to be driven insane. You are living with your mom still. She probably hasn't really gotten the fact that you are your own person. My advice, if you can afford to put away 15,000 a year for retirement, why not put away 10,000 and get a nice house that is your own and you can do whatever you want to do with it.

chimichanga
Save the cash and stay.

kimmyisahotbabe
You may as well stay, you can take care of her when she gets old, and by the time she dies, maybe you'll be mature enough to live on your own.

You already know the answer to the question, don't you? It seems like you are setting yourself up for a great retirement--what about your Mom's? She's driving you insane? Has it occurred to you that you might be driving her up the wall? At what point does she get to be done raising you?

i think you should be out on your own your parents have done there job.you can still put back a little money each week or whenever you get paid

You should have moved out 10+ years ago. Even Mother birds push their young out into the world. What gives here?

You are insane without your mother's help. (Doing the same thing and expecting change?) Why not pay her rent and save $7500 a year.
Unless the insanity is a co-dependent issue then stay and co-miserate.
Do you plan on outliving her to inherit the house?

There's gotta be a bridge nearby that isn't inhabited. Get yourself a fresh piece of cardboard, a butt load of batteries and park yourself under that sucker. Ah, just think of the peace and quiet.

Move out

Suprise
you should ask your mom whether she wants you there or not.

If you can save $15K a year, you can afford to rent a place, or even to get a mortgage on a home (depending on where you live). If you don't like living with your mother and feel embarrassed about it -- it's pretty sad that people should have to feel embarrassed about sharing a home with their own family -- then since you have enough savings to move, you should go ahead.

hmmmm well seems to me that if your not paying rent then yes your at her mercy.. unless she is unable to care for herself i say it's time you moved out and made a life of your own.

is the house paid for? is there a mortage? if so then you should be paying something.. cuz while you may be saving up for retirement what about her? is she working? are you prepared to care for her the rest of your life?

what are you willing to sacrifice to stay where you are? what are the true costs? your privacy, dignity? think about it..

have you thought about being a roomate with a friend or friends? splitting the cost but still able to save $$? you must look for other options or live with her till you die... what about marriage? a girlfriend.. don't you want children?

think about what your really giving up my friend..
is "retirement" worth loosing a life now... hell man what if you died tomorrow.. what then? would you look back with regret just because you were trying to save $$? we only get one chance at this life.. don't waste it, live it..

I don't have a problem with living with mom. I was friends with a guy in his mid-twenties who was basically the man of the house as his dad died when he was 16. He helped take care of his mom and his mom helped take care of him. Eventually he moved out because people gave him crap, but I thought that was wrong because they took care of one another and it made financial sense.
In your case, however, it sounds to me like you need to move out and get on with your life. It doesn't sound to me like this situation is benefitting either of you.

Heck I lived with Mother till I was 45 and then got married and wife and mom and I lived together. Insane, that will happen anywhere. I am soon 50 , my mother died a year ago. I had re married and moved out , not far but left her alone. I wish I had stayed with her till the day she died. So save the $ love your Mother and take Loraxepam. There will come a time in the future when you will oh so wish you had been with her longer. My opinion.. Oh give her a big hug tonight and "TELL" her you love her cause it so hurts to feel the regret that you did not do that enough..
