David W | Should I sell my home read on ( real estate )? |
Hi I bought my home condo near the water in NY 6 years ago. It went up like 100 percent in value. I am getting scared of everyone saying the real estate bubble is going to make homes so low soon. I mean I can get out with good money but my maintance for my apartment is only 274 with 15 year tax abatement plus this includes water, heat. If I sell and rent apartments in brookly, NY goes for average 1,400 around.
What do you think I should. Also, my building has pool steam room sauna club house and gym and free gym classes.
what do you think I should do? |

The market is just going through its typical phase. Every market, including real estate, has its ups and downs. Things will turn around sooner than you think.
You have a wonderful condo, that a financial blessing and investment. Continue living there, making upgrades (kitchen, baths) and when the market turns around you'll have even more equity in the property.
Don't rush to sell because everyone else is doing it. You have the upper hand in this situation and not many people are in a situation like yours. Most people went out and purchased homes they couldn't afford, simply because the banks were giving out loans left and right.
Your situation is different. |

Keep your home. If you need money, apply a home equity loan. The only reason that you may want to sell your condo is to move out of NY or tradeup. Treat your home as a home and not as an investment. |

When your ready to sell. Then sell it. Until then stay home and enjoy it. stop listening to people who say dumb things. |

... if you could sell it right now. Actually though i hear that the market is going to shift back up again soon because they are going to be lowering interest rates again (not alot, but lower is lower). The only thing is that a lot of the national lenders are leaving the ball game cause they dont have any more money to give because the overseas investors dont want to invest any more than they have.
i dont however think that the value of your home will go anywhere but up in the long run. At the very least you wont lose money. Renting isnt a great idea because you are putting money towards somebody else's investment rather than you own. you arent going to have anything to show for it in the long run.
i say dont sell unless you want to move |

Frankly if you don't have to sell, don't add to the problems in the market place unless you really need to.
Is it possible you could lose value? Sure, most of us have, but selling now is a little too late. Just sit tight, it will all work out in time. |

Either sell today, but you need to live somewhere else, try finding a better deal to purchase pending on your closing yours. Otherwise plan to stay where you are for the long term, seems you've got a pretty good deal. |

The bubble is already in full swing. It sounds like a really good monthly fee, especially in NY. I would stay, own for less and wait for the market to turn around.
I have a website below that could be helpful |
