Ride out the storm. Unless you have to sell right now...don't! Markets go up and down and the worst time to sell is when fear governs your decisions. The motto of wealth builders is buy low sell high...don't do the reverse unless you absolutely have to. |

Tsk tsk. Markets fluctuate all the time. Just because it's down now, doesn't mean next year it will continue to decline.
Houses are a LONG TERM investment, and you should treat it that way. SO unless you have this burning desire to pack up and move to another state or something, KEEP YOUR HOUSE |

You have no solid equity in your house, your house is a liability, as Warren Buffet says. You pay taxes, maintenance, heat, electricity and loose value as it ages, on top of the mortgage.
Historically, houses appreciate by 3% a year, that's inflation. So, there are stories, where people made money on a house, there are even more stories, where they lost (and sometimes are not aware of it, because they can't do the math)
Look at your house as the luxury it is, a nice place to live, to beat the market is suicide. |

Don't sell yet. If you can afford the house, stay in it. RE is a long term investment in most cases. |

As long as you can pay your mortgage comfortably, stay where you are. Selling now means that you definitely take a loss, but if you wait, prices could go back up at some point. Unless you absolutely have to move, now is not the time to be selling a house. You will end up taking far less money than the house is worth because people know that you are in no position to bargain. You will also have to try and get a loan to buy a new place, and right now loans are much harder to get than they ever were because of the subprime mortgage mess. Stay put and enjoy your sanity. |

Stop panicking. You didn't say what area you live so the advice is for one of the areas hit hardest..seemingly like
yours. Most of them will be hitting bottom in the next few months. Have patience. the boom we went through was abnormal. The fall will be too. And if you panic sell. Most buyers will know that and where else are you going to live??? |
