I give all my tenants receipts, no matter how they pay. He can get a book that leaves him a carbon copy for a couple of bucks at the office supply store. I can not imagine him not wanting this record himself.
Almost all renters pay monthly, that is not an excuse to deny a receipt. |

Legally you are entitled to one.The part about no book because you`re paying monthly is rubbish - you should insist on some form of record of your payments . |

YES! demand a receipt. you need something with his signature on every time you pay.
i'm not saying that your landlord might turn nasty, but lets face it, it happens sometimes. he could demand a lot of money from you, claiming you have not paid any rent. you need proof that you have paid. |

What you have been told is perfectly correct, you do NOT have a RIGHT to a Rent book if you're paying rent on a monthly basis.
Might I suggest you investigate another form of payment, for instance a cheque or Standing Order payment through a bank account. That way there is proof positive a payment has been made since they would appear on your bank statement. |

Yes, as you are with any transaction.
A cynical person might think that the lack of paperwork would suggest that the landlord isn't bothering the inland revenue about his income. |

Get a recipt for proof if he still won't give you one then pay him by money order or cashier check so you have proof in case he says you didn't pay and ask for it again. |

yes but you will need to ask for it |

Yes. If you ask for one. |

Yes. If he wont give you a reciept then go to the bank and get a cheque book from them. |

YES ,you should have a reciept and a rent book.Protect yourself and get one and insist on proof of payment. |

Yes because you want to have proof of payment. If you don't get/have any you need to starting next payment. The landlord can easily say that you didn't pay because you have no proof. I may be young but I sure am smart. Lol. Hopefully I helped!! |

yes - you can buy receipt books in any stationers - get him to sign one each time you pay your rent |

yes, he should be giving you a receipt !
i lived in short term rented accommodation for 3 years ( 6 different places within 3 years... no wonder my nerves were shot to hell !) and i paid the rent in cash, monthly. i always made sure i was given a reciept. you probably won't ever need them, but it's better to be safe than sorry. |

Yes he should do! Ask him for one next time, you need it for your records and to prove you have paid etc, as there's nothing stopping him getting funny one day, and saying you haven't paid!!! Don't pay another penny until he gives you one! |

You should get a receipt, even if you write it when hes due and ask him to sign it. If he refuses to give a receipt, then tell him you are unhappy keeping that amount of cash in the property, therefore you would like to pay by cheque or direct debit ! This will then show up in his bank account, which is just what he doesn't want it to do I believe. As said before, seems he is not declaring it, naughty naughty. As for the rent book, there are guidelines for using this, regulated rent tenants, who have been in for years.
But you are entitled to a receipt, stand your ground on this. Let us know what happens. |

It would be the right thing to do for him to do. |

You are entitled to have written confirmation that you have paid your rent. It won't be out of order for you to withhold your payment until you have a receipt. |
