Cunning Linguist | Shouldn't ALL us 1st time buyers want England to go into recession, so that the house prices come down? |
|

Sure, and while we're at it, let's all get AIDS so we can finally lose some weight.
The law of unintended consequences applies here. Recessions are serious business and their ripple effects are more far-reaching than one outcome like home prices suffering.
For instance: what good is lower home prices if the recession causes you to lose your job and go into bankruptcy? You won't be able to take advantage of the lower prices and you'll be worse off. |

Are you crazy? How will all the newly unemployed people buy those houses? |

What about these first time buyers jobs? |
|

no, cos mortgage companies wont want to lend you the money! |

Perhaps a quick recession that lasts long enough to bring down the house prices would be good. But if the recession lasts longer than that. Then everybody will suffer. |

Yes but if it does your mortgage rate will be sky high so you probably wont be able to get the money for a house even if its reduced in value. |

Well, yes, but you will upset all those people who have only purchased houses so that they can sell them or rent them for a profit, because they would then have houses on their hands worth less than they were paying for them. House prices staying level for long period would be better. |

If not to make house prices more realistic, remember they have been going sky high for 15 years, we need a few more years of decline before they go down to what they are actually worth. |

No. I agree the market is over priced and an adjustment is inevitable but a full blown recession could end in job losses and high interest rates. Without an income you would not be able to obtain a mortgage. |

an all the house prices are dropping thts why sum ppl dnt want to buy there homes now cos it could be worth less than what they paid for in a few years, best thing to do is rent! |
