if you can afford it, go for the better apartment, otherwise stay put

If you have the money go for the 2 bedroom.

If you can afford dthe 2 bedroom then it might be worth it, but think to yourself....are you going to be using the pool, how far away is the garage from your apartment, do you need the other bedroom?????

I would go for the 2 bedroom, because it is larger and more luxurious!

hushnowjustplayit
They say you shouldn't pay more than 14 of your take home pay for living expenses. If you are going to have to struggle to make the rent, you really might want to think long and hard about moving.

What are your reasons for wanting to move? Will it help you in some tangible way? If you can't make the rent, and I'm sure you will be required to sign a lease, then what will you do? Do you realize how that will affect your credit record?

If you are thinking you can cut back on food or clothes to make the rent, then don't do it because that never works.

The bigger apartment may have hidden expenses too. If ya can comfortably afford the bigger apartment in the nice area, go for it!

Tell them that if they are raising your rent then you are moving, many times they will negotiate. They do not want to spend the money to turn your unit around, try that before anything if you want to stay.

I suggest looking at the long term of it. If you NEED the two bedroom and garage, swimming pool and recreation then move but if you don't then don't move. In the long run you will save 75.00 a month NOT moving and if you move you will pay more heating do to two rooms. You still have to pay electricity there in either apartment. So do what is less costly unless you want the luxury apartment instead. I would on live in the apartment that i can afford, luxury or not.

What is the 1 bedroom rate going up to? Just consider the cost versus the benefit.

Do the math, decide if the amenities are worth the higher price.

I would figure my financial abililty, figure needs, and desires and choose the best option that fits all of these. Happieness does not always come with more.

if you have the money, go for it. this new apartment sound great. if you want this, take with you a roommate. maybe a best friend? a boyfriend? sister? they can help cut cost, and its a two bedroom apt, each will get their own room. good luck!

mikentammy76
You need to set down and see if you could afford the other apartment.

If you need a bigger place and you can afford it I say go for it. But wow, where do you live that you have to pay $910 for a one bedroom apartment. I have a one bedroom house that I'm renting, the house is not that big, its only about 250 square ft, but I have a huge lot that I can do whatever I want to with. I pay $500 a month including water.

I do think the luxury apt sounds very good, better than what you're paying for now.

75$ more for the 2 bedroom luxury would be where my money goes. It seems to have alot more amenties. If only i could find rent like that in my area. The place you are describing would probably go for over 2k a month where I live.

But it all depends just how tight your bill are every month. If 75 extra a month would get you close to your limit then I would aovid it. But if you can swing the extra 75% I would do it, and the just cut out of other expense I dont need every month. Like eating out.
