I assume you are in the UK. If not ignore this.
If you just GO nobody will do anything.
Its not worth the effort.
It will be Ok .
I would not pay one months rent and go at the end of that month or you will lose your deposit.
You should give them one months notice.
What are they going to do?
Nothing they can do. just go. |

Don't know about there, but in the US, once a lease expires, it carries over on a month-to-month basis. |

Look at your old lease and see if it indeed renews itself. If it does, then you must give the 2 months notice. If the lease has lapsed to a month to month, then legally you only have to give 30 days notice. 99% of leases lapse to a month to month. Most likely she doesnt want an empty apartment and is trying to scare you into staying. |

Read your renewal terms section in your lease. A lot of them state that it automatically renews for another 12 month period if not terminated in writing prior to the expiration date. However, in the US if a new lease is not signed then the old lease lapses into month to month and all the terms and conditions still apply except the notice to vacate time frame is reduced to 30 days.
Best thing to do is give 60 days notice to vacate. If you've found a house but not yet closed on it then 2 months is enough time to close and do any repairs and or decorating on the house before moving in. A lot of closings never happen on time and if you gave 30 days notice and the house failed to close you'd be out of a place to live, this way you have a cushion incase the closing goes to 45 days out, if you move out 2 weeks before the 60 days is up then it's no big deal.
Just give her notice, it gives her time to find another tenant. If she's mad it's because she has to be inconvenienced in finding another renter. |

Read your contract - is should say what the terms are for a lease carry over - the terms of the contract may carry over on a month to month basis or renew for another 12 months, only by reading it will you know the actual terms. |

Take your tenancy agreement (the last one you had before it expired) to your local CAB office they will be able to go through it with you and tell you where you stand legaly because all agreements are different.
However, a tenancy agreement cannot renew itself, if a form is required to be signed for the agreement to continue and the form is not signed then legally there is no agreement. |

read ur lease agreement. but i doubt it. i don't know of any lease that carries over on it's own w/out the renters signing it agreeing to the terms and conditions all over again.. i'd give them 30 days notice and keep it moving |
