Asking price is 179k - What would you offer having known its been up for sale for so long? Additional Details They have never reduced the price at all.......
I have just recieved a bill for water rates but from what I understood in my tenacy agreement my landlord is liable, what does this section mean to you:-
Additional rent in respect of water and other rates and charges in the nature of rates levied on the premises are borne by the landlord.
That does sound like its the landlord's responsibility... although I think that is quite unusual.

It's highly unusual for Landlords to pay water rates and other rates specifically but the section states that "additional rent?" will be bourne by the landlord.
He'll undoubtedly contest it and probably be left with a sour taste in his mouth if you persue it, which will be difficult when he has to renew your agreement.
The gain you make in respect of this would not cover the cost of finding a deposit, moving costs and extra rent if he decided to terminate your agreement.
Think about it before you act..
Good luck

That clause means if it's a charge based upon the value of the property, it's the landlord's responsibility. If you've got a water meter and the charge is based on what you've used, it's your responsibility.
Bet I can guess what you've got!

I think the word additional is key. This may mean if the rates go up the landlord will pay the difference. Whose name is the water bill in That's pretty much a key as to who pays it.
James Q
Yes it appears that any additional fees with respect to the water service will be paid by the landlord. The thing now is to look at the rest of the agreement and find out the rest of the story. With this statement alone you can't assume that the landlord is liable for your water bill.. only "additional" The statements before this one are required to interpret what additional means.

I am not a expert but that does sound like the landlord is responsible
Jenny O
Yep....not your problem
Tim
Make a copy of the agreement, circled that section and give it to the landlord with the bill for water that they presented you.
It says the landlord is responsible. Maybe they don;t know what the agreement says or they are hoping you don;t and you will pay the bill.
danceswithwolves
sounds like he is responsible
forward the bill onto him and see what happens
allen555
You are right. He's responsible.

It means the landlord pays them - this also sounds like he pays the council tax too.
