The house I'm renting is being foreclosed on. I'm in the process of moving my stuff out. Normally I'd clean the the place to leave it as good as new. Should I still give it a deep clean or just clean the fridge and the tubs, vaccum and call it a day? Or do I even need to do that? |

Is there a security deposit that needs to be settled? If so, I would just give it a good cleaning (not a deep cleaning). And if not, Just move your stuff our and give it a light cleaning. |

This is your main problem your landlord just lost the house to a foreclosure, they may not have the monies to return your security deposit and may have to sue in small claims |

If you had a lease with the owners say 6 months and it's only been 4 you should be able to get your deposit back anyway because the owners are breaking your lease. If they let you stay til your lease was up, clean it good, like you entered it, and have them walk thru with you and sign off that everything was in good order, take pictures of how you left the place and date them so that there won't be any descrepecies on how you left the place. That's my best advise anyway. |

Yes you still need to clean,, You have no idea what will be done with the unit, and that the mortgage company could post name and pictures of your "Cleaning"
Plus why would you want to be known as a slob?? If you don't do it then someone else has to do it for you.. Is that fair? |

I think you should do that if you are able too. I know that when I was renting out my house I was made when people left it a mess so I think that would be a good thing. |

You don't need to deep clean, your plan to clean the fridge, tubs, vacuum and such is a good one.
As some others said, if you don't leave the place reasonably clean, you could be hit with a cleaning bill. |

Did you have to give a deposit? If so, and if you want it back, you had better return it to the condition it was in when you moved in. If you don't care, or if you didn't put down a deposit, just leave. |

If security deposit isn't an issue, ask the person that notified you of the foreclosure. If someone from the bank or a real estate agent for the bank that will be servicing the REO, ask if you qualify for "Cash For Keys" and what condition they expect the home to be in, if that is available to you. It will usually be "broom clean". |

if it's being foreclosed than i would say you're not getting your cleaning deposit back.
so if that's the only reason you would clean than no don't clean.
if you're a responsible person than clean. |

I would just clean the fridge, the tubs and vacuum, and make the place look presentable. I would not worry about the rest. |
