The maintenance guys are coming in my apartment when im not home,but they ar denying it.?
I was having this problem with the maintenance guys coming in watching tv and being in my apt when im away, i told the office and they said it had to be someone OTHER THAN STAFF, so they changed the locks and the problem continues, i came home today and a stool was broken.What can i do?.
Buy a cheap webcam for your computer and research how to have it transmit to site you can access at work. If someone enters the apartment call the police to report a break in and watch the guys get arrested. If you have no access to the internet at work then take a day off and spend it at a friends house to try and catch them in the act. Even though these guys have a key what they are doing is criminal trespass unless there is emergency maintenance that needs to be done in your apartment.

1. You have the right to quiet enjoyment.
2. They have the right to enter the apartment without notice for an emergengy....ie. fire, broken water line, leak, etc. and they have to leave you something in writing telling you that they were there and why.
3. Any other reason requires a 24 hour notice and must be done during reasonable business hours.
4. ANY OTHER ENTRY IS AGAINST THE LAW...that means that if they enter the apartment (and this goes for the landlord to) outside the above reasons, that is an illegal entry and you can call the police and have them arrested for it.
My advice: Get a video camera that has a motion detector on it...rent one or borrow one...there was a case where a landlord was doing this on the news and he was sentenced to three years in prison for it...yes, the OWNER of the property.
It is important that you do this because you don't know when things can start coming up missing.
