The real estate market is pretty good right now. Do you think in a year from now the house prices will?
sky rocket? I would love to buy a house this year since the market is so good, but I must wait. I am worried that by next spring/summer the cost of housing is going to be a lot more expensive. What do you think?

Best guess, depending on where you live, is that you have time. There are always opportunities regardless of the market circumstances. Take this year to get your crdeit in order, your financing together, and then find a professional realtor to represent you. It is a buyers market and probably will be for awhile.

I think the market is getting bad right now and im afraid its gonna get even worse by next year.

A lot depends on whether you would consider today's market a "good" market. It depends on if you are a buyer or seller, where you live, what price range you are looking at, whether you are talking about a townhouse, single family residence or condo. I doubt most people across the country will tell you the market is "good" right now. Most markets are still in a steep decline and it doesn't look like there is a chance of it getting better anytime soon. If you are a buyer in the market for a home, now is actually not a good time to buy. Why would you buy now when most likely the home will be worth less in a couple months. Wait at least a year to buy, things are only going to get worse.

What area are you living in? The Real estate market is a disaster. Look for prices to continue to drop for another year anyway

Where did you get the idea that the real estate market is good? It's a disaster right now.

It sounds like the best thing to do is interview your LOCAL real estate professionals. Ask them about their current experiences in the market and their outlook for the coming year.

Real Estate is very area specific. A lot of the news you hear comes from NAR (National Association of Realtors) surveys that are, by definition, Nation wide. You really want someone who knows the local market and whom you feel comfortable with. Real estate is cyclical and what ever your home ownership and financial goals are should be considered in the decision.

For a long time the so called experts says the bubble will burst and the housing market will collapse many years onward the prices still rocketing.
The reality is no one knows.I think if you want to buy anytime is the best buy.Or the sooner the better.

I dropped my price from 527,000 to 475,000 to a final 439,000 and it sold within a week, but I am still going through escrow, been almost 3 weeks now.
Keep looking around, as the prices will drop.
The homes that sold for 500 thousands are mostly being foreclosed on as the desperate put the horse behind the cart and expected the four legged creature to pull.
Lots of messen up on the banks part really as well as hungry realtors wanting that extra few thousand to go on vacation on. My last 2 realtors have taken 3 vacations in a 4 month period, so be carefull of the realtor you choose as they are in it for themselves and will tell you everything they know you want to hear, they definately can con!
Be very aware of what a realtor promises you even if it is a free pen, MAKE THEM WRITE IT DOWN OR LET THEM GO!

Where do you live?

The real estate market is on the ropes right now.

Now is a good time to buy, but DON'T expect the market to explode to the upside.

Real Estate is a slow moving train. There is plenty of time to get on board since the train today is still parked at the station.

When it starts to move, you can simply "Get on Board" but don't expect a freight train to go from zero to 100 miles per hour in a year or two.

More likely 3 miles per hour the first year, then 5 the second, then 7 the third.

You get the point.

Hope this helps.

Th emarket is bad if you own a house but good if you can buy. Prices will not skyrocket. It depends on the locality on whether they will go up, stay the same or go down a bit more before things rebound across the country. You need to research your local area.
