you'd have to take it up with your town council

Economics Guy
The only thing you can do is buy it, or maybe just buy some right behind your house. If you don't buy then don't *****, because it really isn't fair for you to prevent someone from building on THEIR OWN LAND. Becides because of the development the value of your own home will rise and at a much faster rate than otherwise would have. So your personal wealth will rise, boy what a tradgic side affect.

How sad. You can start by writing letters to everyone you can think of: congressmen, city council, nature advocates, the president..well maybe not the president! But write letters to everyone else. Contact the local newspapers. Build a case, so you can explain why it shoudn't be done (i.e., it will displace wildlife that's there now). I hope you're successful.

archie cute
just do it

destroy you're house and they'll stop the construction

Usually the developer needs to submit the plans for the community to the town or city board, and that hearing is usually public. You can attend the meetings along with your neighbors to voice your concern. If they've already done it, you may be too late. Also, check the zoning laws in your city to see what easements are required. I am personally going through the same thing, with a 90 acre field next to my house.

If you are willing to put in some effort the only things you can really do are:
1. make a petition, get people to sign it, and bring it to your municipality's(township, borough, city) review meeting.
2. show up to the meeting with other people that don't want it and make your case against it.

In order for any development to happen it has to be approved by your municipality's planning committee. You have to convince this committee that the development is not good for the community....not an easy task though. Ignore the people that are saying to buy it, that isn't an option anymore if someone is already looking to develope it. Either the developer already owns it or the farmer has a great deal set up with the developer that would keep him from selling it to anyone else.

report it to the government and that might stop it. If you can also try to read the law book and find out if its legal or not what they are doing.
