You had no trouble accepting the money, you simply refused to repay it.
What were you expecting? Lots of cash and a free house?
You may be able to redeem your loan, but you have to be good to your word and pay the money you owe. It is not like they just up and took the house, they gave you cash money. |

Get over it.
You couldn't afford to pay cash for your home. So you couldn't afford it without getting a loan. Your credit and income were such that you were shuffled into a subprime loan, which by it's very nature has high interest rates--the higher rates were intended to have the few who paid all the way to the end cover the losses to the lenders on the borrowers who couldn't pay.
You couldn't get a fixed rate loan, so you talked yourself into the ARM. You blinded yourself to the reality that if the interest rates changed, the loan payments would go up. Yes, I think the banks should have checked to see if you could afford the rate at ALL of the ARM rates, but they didn't make you sign. You did that all by yourself.
You voluntarily agreed to something you couldn't afford and you lost the gamble.
The fact that you made mistakes is not my fault. It's not the government's fault--and I don't see why my tax dollars should be spent to let you keep a house you couldn't afford. |

The government did something for the airlines during 9/11, but nothing for New York, or the firefighters with respiratory diseases. The government didn't do squat for New Orleans. They don't deem you important, even though you pay taxes, this Government is a joke. I'm sorry that your American dream was crushed by American Government, by that's how they roll. They even take away fee speech and right to assembly, Kent State, OH ring a bell?
CAPS LOCK CAN ALSO EXPRESS ANGER, WHICH THIS PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO BE, YOU ARE THE MORON FOR TAKING SUCH A TRIVIAL THING TO HEART.
You people out here running your mouths without sympathy for your fellow American are the reason we are in this crisis, because you don't know how to walk a mile in anyone else's shoes.
This goes beyond excepting money and refusing to pay it. You dumbos preaching out here are probably a mile high in debt yourselves. What about good honest Americans who get laid off of a job after 25 years of work and can't afford their mortgage anymore. Are they at fault too? I sincerely hope all of you wusses spewing hatred get to eat your words one day, so someone else can call YOU a pansy. |

You shouldn't have accepted a mortgage with a payment that you couldn't make.
No sympathy for those who try to live outside their means.. |

I'm sure there are a lot of people asking the same question.
Regrettably, I don't think you have any recourse.
And to the smartypants below:
"Lot's of people lost THEIR homes due to the mortgage crisis."
What's with the apostrophe, grammar guru? |

I've heard suggestions on the news shows about structuring things so rather than forcing people out of their homes, they could pay something like rent to the company that is holding the mortgage, and then eventually become owners again.
I hope something like this can be put in place. However, sometimes people can be totally pig-headed and refuse to agree to something that will actually help people.
We have a lot of commercial vacancies in our area. My sons says, regrettably, most of the owners would rather take bankruptcy than reduce the rent. |

I don't think this is a case of something bad happening to a good person. I think this is a case of a consequence happening to a stupid person.
Get over it. People like you are a drain on the system. Get a job and quit whining. |

I'm really sorry, but you don't have any recourse now. What you should focus on now is building up your credit and saving money to buy the next place. It may takes some time. but yes all you can do is suck it up for now and start putting your ducks in a row as we like to say. I cry a lot too. The sheriff sale on our house was this past week. We are planning on letting the bank have it back. We're both realtors and our business has dropped off by 98%. We made it on our reserves for 3 years, but it's gone now. So is most of our retirement money. So I do know how you feel. Hugs and hang in there. |

You lost Three homes.
Surely you knew what you were doing when buying them.
Reading the Contract and asking questions and Shopping for the best loan is common sense.
fixed rate is it stays the same.
Adjustable is the rate goes up and down, and has a set cap and set lower end.
Maybe 3 three homes you over extended yourself.
How long did you not pay on your mortgage? It takes a bit before they foreclose.
Why did you not pay on one? and leave the others go?

And can we please start using "there" and "their" correctly for once? Really people, it's not that hard.
"Look! Over THERE! It's a complete moron!"

Sorry you lost your home, and glad to see someone admit that the loss was of their own doing.
Unfortunately, the government isn't interested in giving back homes already lost.
They are only interested in the political aspects of it, and so will do a short term fix and hope the problem goes away during a time frame that allows them to take credit for fixing it.
Reality is, we all have the RIGHT to own a nice home, but not all of us have the MONEY to own a nice home. Big difference.
You may be able to afford to live in a smaller home in a less upscale neighborhood. But you may say that's not what I want. So you make a choice. (I had that choice, bought downscale, was ridiculed by siblings and wife's siblings, and eventually paid off my 1968-built home in a decnt small town.
Seven siblings have declared bankruptcy. All except my oldest brother, who doesn't even have a credit card and paid cash for his house after working as a laborer for many years.
The best thing that can come from this mess is a more informed, humbler America - who relies on credit far less than today.
Good Luck to all ...

People like you are the reason for this problem!! Oh, no, you're living in an apartment- poor thing. Why don't we put your picture up next to starving kids in Africa. You are greedy and irresponsible and I don't feel bad for you a darn bit. Suck it up you pansy! Having a house is not a right, it is a privilege. Guess what? You are not aloud to STEAL my tax dollars because you don't want to live in an apartment. I am mad as hell about the bailout and you don't deserve any help. I paid my taxes, I spent within my limits and now I am being punished. I AM SICK OF IT!!! Get off your butt and work for a home, like my parents and grandparents and great grandparents did. |
