depending on the state it can be anywhere from 15-45 days after you've moved out. now the only way you are entitled to interest is if the landlord placed your security deposit into an interest bearing account, in which you have to be notified in writing at the time the landlord deposits your money that he's put it into an interest bearing account. If he did not tell you of this then chances are he did not and therefore you are only entitled back what you paid out minus any damages if any.

usually within 30 days if there is no damage to the apartment. in new york you are entitled to interest on your deposit.

In Wisconsin the land lord must give a tenant a notice within 20 days if he is withholding any of the security deposit, and why. If the landlord fails to do this, the landlord loses his right to withhold any of the security deposit. I assume that he may then sue if he believes that he has been damaged. You should seek interest on what he owes you.

You receive the deposit 30 days after you vacate.

No interest, and depending on the landlord you might not get it all back. They often find things wrong with the way you left the unit and deduct money for cleaning, etc.

golferwhoworks
with in 30 days of exit and no interest
