We've got a beautiful new council house but I cannot share the news!!?
I wish I could but I just cannot trust my father not to spread the word round this little town that we'll be leaving before the end of the year.

We owned our first home together but had to leave it because of circumstances. We moved into a horrible flat in a horrible estate. Now, just about 2 months after I gave up hope of getting an exchange or a move...

THE COUNCIL OFFERED US A NEW HOME!!!!!!!
And after a weekend of wondering what it would be like we found out together today.

ITS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Its a semi detached house with gardens front and back in a beautiful little village near the beach. Its the kind of place we dreamed of buying before the prices went ballistic.

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. I REALLY CANNOT.

YAHOOOOO!!!!

Sorry, no question as such.

Congratulations, it goes to show that not all council property is on sink estates. Who cares you don't own it, think of the positives.
No repair bills, after a year you can alter it with the councils permission, you can pass the tenancy on to your kids.
I was given a council bungalow in a delightful rural village on the banks of a river. I love it.
I'd rather live in a council house and go on nice holidays and eat fillet steak than work all hours just to service a huge mortgage in some vain hope that one day, it will be mine.

good luck to you all in your new home.
there's nothing like a roof over your heads, all yours & no-one can take it away from you.
i know personally the insecurity of losing your home, been there, done that.
i understand your excitement, wanting to tell the world but fearing the back-lash from those less fortunate or envious.
thanx for making my day with your good news,
thanx ever so much.

Congrats, that's brilliant. Good luck to you both, may you make some wonderful new memories in your new place. It sounds like a really great place to live. Good to know you're out of a bad area, that can be really stressful at times. If you don't feel comfortable telling your Dad, then don't, you're not obliged to. (Is it a fear of estate kids ruining it?)

Congratulations, and just remember to be very grateful for what you have, there are a lot of people who look down on council house tenants. But who cares, we are so lucky to have them. I am a very grateful Council House Tenant!!!!

Save your celebrations until you move in - you may get a bit disappointed if 50 illegals land over the next couple of days and get your house instead
