One of the previous respondents is absolutely correct. Almost any mortgage company offers a "hardship assistance" program, and they're actually anxious to work with IF a) your past payment history has been satisfactory and b) you are able to establish that your inability to pay is only temporary.
In actuality, many people can prevent foreclosures, credit score wreckage, and other financial disasters, just by contacting the lender and requesting forebearance and other hardship assistance. Most borrowers are afraid to let their lenders know about hardship, but the fact is that the last thing that your lender wants is for you to default on your loan.
Foreclosure is time-consuming, paperwork-intensive and expensive. Foreclosure buyers rarely pay anywhere near the actual market value of a home, so a lender who winds up with a portfolio of re-claimed real estate doesn't receive anywhere near the same kind of money from a foreclosure buyer as they stand to make from you, even if it takes you a little longer than the lender had hoped for you to pay your debt.
To keep it really simple - your lender doesn't want to foreclose on your house. They want you to pay the loan, because that's the outcome where they're going to have the least hassle, AND make the most money.
If you're having trouble making payments because of unemployment, reduction in income, illness or injury that prevents you from working, divorce, or other unexpected personal events that make it impossible for you to pay your mortgage loan, you absolutely must contact your lender, and ask to speak to someone about their hardship program.
Be prepared to explain to the lender what you intend to do to restore your ability to make regular payments. If the lender can't envision how you're EVER going to be able to make the agreed-upon payments, you're no longer a good credit risk, and they're obligated to protect their investment by taking back their collateral assets. As long as you can convince them that you'll be able to resume payments within a reasonable period of time, I'm 99.99% positive that they will be quite supportive, and work with you to get your affairs back in order.
Good luck to you! |

Contact your mortgage company. I know from experience that some offer hardship assistance where they will reduce your monthly payment or assist you in catching up. It is far better than losing your home to foreclosure. |

Find yourself a financial planner. Sounds like you should have been saving for a rainy day, not living month to month. |

First off look at how much you borrowed on your house compaired to how much you take in. is it alot more, alot of people these days think that since I'm approved for 200,000 I can get a 200,000 grand house, live by your means, get a second job, cut back on everything (bet you have cable, cable internet, cell phone, land line, anything that you don't need to live aka. heat, food!). And get your lazy a** back to work, or find a stay at home job!! |

Try a secondary mortgage company who may be able to do a stated income loan on you depending on your current credit scores. You are on sick leave, which means you are still employed there. If not ask if they have a bank statement loan product. |

You probably hate to do this, but it sounds like it's time to call mom and dad, or a brother, sister, rich aunt, etc........ |

Call your lender immediately and explain the problem. If you are honest with them, you may be able to work something out and avoid foreclosure. Can you borrow from family or friends? If you are also making credit card payments, stop them and put the money towards the mortgage. Save your home. |

Give her a break people, she's on SICK LEAVE. She can't "get her lazy *** back to work" because you don't know the seriousness of what she's going through.
If I were in this situation I would get the help of my family from my side as well as my signficant other's side and maybe sell some stuff?
It's all I can really think of, just be really strict about budgeting and maybe you can go to a Stop and Cash that will loan you money? |
