What can I do about noiseyneighbors in my apartment building? Los Angeles here!!?
The neighbors that live below me play music all the time. It thimps with bass and I can barely watch TV or concentrate. I have tried to talk with them, but no luck. I've reported them to the landlord, but nothing. It's been 4 months now. Any ideas, I don't want to move!!! Please help!!!

You can call the police. Disturbing the peace is against the law, and you have the right to be free some such disturbances.

If the manager doesn't help, contact the building's owner.

Good luck.

If you've tried to talk to the tenant and to the landlord, call the police. Call enough and they will get in trouble with the landlord. Of course, they will be pretty mad at you, be prepared for that.

A great line I once used with my landlord, when he told me noise was not his problem. If I can't get any sleep, then I can't work. If I can't work, I can't pay my rent. It is your problem.

REALTOR
The landlord can talk to them, but he cannot do much more about it.
Sometimes the only solution is to call police. It's not true that the neighbors cannot be loud only after certain hours. Many places have regulations about nose. I've seen local regulations stating that if a noise can be heard from 30 feet away, it's a violation any time of the day. Check your local noise ordinance. You can call city hall and ask for code enforcement department and ask them what to do.

Best bet is to get the police on the phone and have them come over when you start to hear that music bumpin'! Eventually your lovely neighbors will get a fine for noise desturbance!

Nancy Kay
not much you can do, really, except move...or call the police it it goes on after 10 PM...but then that may backfire big time...

Explain them. Otherwise call the police.

Talk to them again. Tell them the best times of day to play which would minimize your annoyance. Talk to neighbors who must also be mad and have everyone talk to them individually.

If that doesn't work, explain that you will call the police if it happens again.

Your best bet is to try and befriend them. They are more likely to hear you out if they know you rather than a stranger asking out of nowhere to "be quite". If you do that they will probably try harder to annoy you. Maybe approach them and ask "how are you" or "what kind of music do you like". Strike up conversation first and then you can simply through your opinion in without sounding ignorant.

cocoa
If They don't listen to reason or respond to you calling the police play there game when it is quiet start playing loud music a realy weird kind of music realy loud i know it's childish but some times ya got to do what you got to do
or you could talk with your other neighbors and see if it bothers them as well and all get together and go to your land lord numbers work sometimes

Good Luck!

Pee through their letterbox every day. If it continues, chuck a number 2 into the mix.
