This is an odd question in some ways, and it has been asked many times before.
When a person is starting a business whether on-line or not they normally KNOW what they are going to sell.
I regularly ebay and one thing i found out early on is do not put all your eggs in one basket. A good example is laptops, now i used to sell quite a lot of S/H lappies at a decent margin, but the coming of the 300 quid laptop - and the Free (but it is not really) lappy from an internet service provider - killed the margins almost overnight. You need a well chosen selction of items to sell. Also, you need to find ones that give a decent profit margin. If you sell batteries for example and make 20p profit on one after charges you have to sell a lot of batteries to make much money. All of which have to be packed and posted. |

anything by nintendo, especially on the run up to christmas, nintendo have a habit of making less products than the demand so there are never enough to go around and the product is always in demand. buy things in bulk and wait until they are sold out in most places and then up your prices and watch the money roll in! alternatively i sell a lot of stuff on ebay and i find that football shirts sell well too.
if your any good at sewing, cushion covers and bedding/curtains always sell very well on ebay. and they are pretty simple to make, plus you can get fabric from market stalls. |
