Now a days developers are getting creative when building residential communities. What you are talking about falls under a few different headings.
1. Gated Community - A collection of private homes separated by the general public by a gate. Usually the homeowners of the community pay higher than normal neighborhood association fees to maintain the privacy provided by the gate and perhaps a security force, community club house and land owned in common with the residents (providing a park like atmosphere)
2. Condominium - Condos aren't just apartments in large buildings. They can also be individually built as single family homes but still fall under the heading of a condo due to how it is owned. So, they can be built like a gated community with private use by the residents. Instead of paying neighborhood association fees, residents pay
monthly maintenance fees.
3. Co-housing - Co-housing is like condominiums but are usually single family homes that are attached to at least one other. Co-housing residents are also usually more tightly associated with the rest of the community. |
