I don't think it would necessarily be weird to buy a house from someone you know. However, keep in mind that if there are any "skeletons in the closet" for that house - things that need repairs, things that don't work properly, etc - that they don't disclose, it could cause tension between the two of you as you come across things that may seem "shady".
And believe me, there is always something in every house that a new owner comes across and is not real happy with. Not always a major thing, sometimes just minor annoyances, but as long as they are honest with you about anything that may need work or whatever, I don't see why it should be strange.
I will say this though - ALWAYS get an inspection, even if you know the person!! We bought our house from my inlaws, no inspection because we trusted them - BAD mistake!! Lots of issues that they may or may not have known about (it was a tenament property that they didn't inhabit, just owned and rented out). It has caused some stress between us and my inalws.
Good luck. :) |

it wouldn't be weird. my parent has done that before, but we were younger. and i know some kids from high school, im 17, who have done the same thing. one family moved out, her friends family moved in, after they left , their other friends family m,oved in. its just life. if you dont think of it as weird, then it wont be. if your still worried about it, talk to your feriend about it. maybee you can sleep in the room that wasnt your friends, so it wont feel like yoiur stealling hers. though in reality, it wont be hers any more. that dont make much scence. but good luck any way. |

No I don't think it's weird. In fact it could work for the benefit of each party.
Your family can benefit for there not being Realtos involved, just go to two Real Estate Attorneys and it can be great.
Make sure the is a provision that is fair and equitable to both parties, you can't complain next year if the lawn didn't grow. |
