Felons do not get section 8, but the people on section 8 tend to have boyfriends who are felons, etc.
Unless you are also section 8 you are not likely to enjoy living there. |

Section 8 gives rent allows to people who have a low income. They can rent a $800 a month apartment and only pay $250, and the city or county will pay the rest each month.
There is always a waiting list after you qualify for the program. I know of some people who take advantage of this program, and they end up in jail or prison. |

It simply means that the complex will accept Sec 8 housing vouchers from those of limited income. Not all complexes do so, nor are they required to do so.
Sec 8 recipients CAN be felons, but so can those who do not use that program. Generally, apartment complexes check criminal backgrounds before accepting a tenant, regardless of whether or not they are using the Sec 8 program. |

I can tell you from experience I worked at a property that took section 8 years ago and it was a nightmare. It's the only place I've ever worked where apartments were trashed not only at move out but while people lived there. There were constant disturbances from music, fighting, kids being unattended and causing trouble. Our office got broken into 4 times by a residents brother who wasn't on the lease. I know there are decent people on Section 8 but unfortunately they are a small handful compared to the rest that are on it and take advantage. |

Section 8 is a low-income housing program. Basically if people qualify, the government will supplement the rent. This really doesn't affect the likelihood of having a felon for a neighbor, but it means you are a lot more likely to have low-income neighbors.
Low income people tend to cause more problems, they are more likely to have junk cars in the parking lot, they are more likely to stay up late listening to loud music etc. If its something you are concerned about, make sure you check the place out really well (perhaps you should drive through the place at night). |
