Send a registered, certified letter that the landlord has to sign. ASk for proof from the post office. It is a normal procedure and will not seem hostile.
Even though she has changed her adress you will have proof that you sent notice to the former adress, and I think it should be valid if she ever tried to claim you had skipped out on her. |

I had a dead beat landlord once ....
I ended up moving out ...... and I skipped the last month's rent! BUT that was only because (like you) the plumbing was OLD and when the toilet backed up, all of the kitchen flooring got moldy and it had to be completely ripped up!
And he NEVER fixed it for MONTHS! :(
I had a crappy wooden floor (the stuff that was under the linoleum was exposed) for months! :(
So I packed up ... moved out ... and never sent him the last month's rent!
**EDIT: Divorce or NOT, it is HER responsibility to let her tenants know of any new address and/or phone numbers!
That is her fault, sweetie ... not yours! :-)
I like what Mr. Ed said ... :) |

Is there a phone number you can call? It seems a little strange that all her addresses got changed. She might have forgotten about this one that you're sending the mail to.
What about your neighbors? Ask if they know how to get ahold of her? |

At this point, it's really her fault and problem that you can't get ahold of her.Since you have left messages and sent mail, what does she expect you to do? If the rent doesn't show up, she'll know. I'm a landlord too and my stupid tenants have my e-mail address, p.o. box, the managers phone and address (he's our nephew) my cell phone numbers and my address out of state. If it should go to court, I think you would win. She gave you no option! The only thing is to send a letter stating you have been trying to contact her via phone and mail to give your notice. Make this a return receipt type of thing from the post office to her p.o. box and save that just in case. Good luck at your new place!!! |

send a letter and tell them that on Feb 15 2008 you will be out of your unit and that you tried to contact them many time be very specific like with dates and times tell them you are tired of there negligence and sign your name with the date and time and send it by registered mail after you send it wait 3 days and leave a message so that means they have to receive it and sign for it. To put some fire under them let them you do not want to take them to court, or you will notify them to the city |

Retain all copies of your cell and home phone bills (if her number is long distance) to prove you attempted to call her multiple times. Send any correspondence via certified mail, as well.
Also keep a log that notes the dates you attempted to reach her, and whether it was by phone or by certified mail.
Save everything! :) Good luck! |

I think you should send a certified letter so she will have to reply back and you will have proof that you have been trying to reach her.Sorry about your situation hope it works out for you!:) |

This may sound like a silly answer, but sometimes the obvious answer is the best one. Why didn't you send a certified letter to the PO box you send your rent to? this would not only give the landlord notice at a place you know they are checking, but also give you proof that you did give notice to the landlord. This will be the first thing a judge will ask if this ever goes to court.
That would be the first thing I would do if I were you. the second thing to check is what your state/locality says about leaving in the middle of the month. In PA, notice must be given by the first of the month to vacate at the end of the month. If you were to give notice to me on Jan 15th that you were leaving you would be responsible for rent until the end of Feb. I'm not sure what state you are in to check the laws there. |
