Estate-agent-speak for a bedsit! |

Apartments can be classified into several types. Studio, efficiency, bedsit and bachelor style apartments all tend to be the smallest apartments with the cheapest rents in a given area. These kinds of apartment usually consist mainly of a large room which is the living, dining, and bedroom combined. There are usually kitchen facilities as part of this central room, but the bathroom is its own smaller separate room. |

It means the kitchen, living room and bedroom are all one room. It's used by estate agents but its really just a fancy word for a bedsit. If you dont like cooking smells in the same room you sleep in then you'd best find a one bedroom flat. |

A studio flat is an apartment where there is only usually two rooms.
One large room with a kitchen, lounge and bedroom.
And a second room which is the bathroom. |

Generally a studio is another name for a bachelor, which has no actual bedroom. That being said, they are not always small. We have studio lofts here in Toronto that are 1,500 square feet. And 1-bedroom units might have 2 tiny rooms that are worse than one larger room.
But yes, the term means that there is no bedroom, and this is essentially one large open concept room.

That usually means I room and a separate bathroom. The kitchen is usually in the room itself. I used to live in one. It was sort of a pain because if you sleep on a sofa bed type thing (which is usually all that fits in those small rooms) you have to remake it every morning or when friends come over. Also, the smell of food keeps hanging in the air. Sometimes you are lucky and there's a door to kitchen but that's rare and also the prices are extortionary! If you look at value, it probably better to take a one bed if you can afford it. It's much better, believe me |

I think a flat means apartment. A studio does not have a separate bedroom but rather one larger living area. |

A studio flat is a property where the bedroom is shared with the lounge (no separate bedroom). The list of rooms normally found in a studio flat consist of:
Kitchen
Bathroom
Lounge/Bedroom |

Some studios are ideal for first time. Can be spacious and copeable if better things in life are your priority. |

Not open plan, it means there's a kitchen, bathroom, and one large room for a bedroom/lounge
quaint and cosy if just for one or a couple, some can be small though so always view |

A studio flat is usually not entirely open plan but they can offer limited space. The bathroom area will be sectioned off in another room, but your bedroom living area and possibly the kitchen will all be in one room. Some studio flats even have the kitchen off the main room. Watch out for top floor studio flats as they can mean a lot of bending your head under the eaves! Basically you can save on your monthly rent as they are cheaper than a 1 bed flat, and a lot easier to keep warm, but you do need to be fairly tidy and storage can be limited. |
