Foreclosed home are homes that were mortgaged but the owners were unable to make the payments at some point, after which the bank that held the mortgage took the home over. You purchase it for whatever the bank is willing to sell it for. |

Tricky question.... grey area here, and the answer might vary based on state law.
Foreclosure here in NC results in a sale at the courthouse steps. Most often, the mortgage holder is high bidder, and then turns about and offers the property for sale, usually through a REALTOR®.
It's still a property that was foreclosed upon in either case, so I guess you'd still call it a "foreclosed home", whether you bought it at the courthouse steps, or bought it from the bank after thay bought it at the courthouse steps. |

Foreclosed homes are homes where the mortgage has gone into default. The homebuyer has been, or is in the process of being evicted, and the home is put up for what is called a "short sale." These days, with the housing crisis, be very careful, because the houses may not be worth what is owed on the mortgage in today's depressed market.
Typically, there are also other problems with foreclosed homes--they have not likely been well maintained and repaired prior to going into foreclosure, and there may be damage to the home from items removed, vandalized, or just being left vacant. Expect to have some rehab costs over and above the sales price, sometimes significant ones.

A foreclosed home is a home in which the owners stopped paying their mortgage for 3 plus months (for whatever reason). The bank has changed the locks so the owners can no longer have access (if they have not already vacated the premises). The bank now owns the property and sells it usually for a cheaper price than what the house was originally purchased for. With bank owned/foreclosed homes usually if it is in good condition there will be many people who make an offer on it so you never really know if your offer will be accepted because you don't know what the other offers are. Unless the listing agent is representing you, he or she cannot tell you what the other offers are but they can tell you what would be a competitive offer. |

They are boarded up - hence "closed". |

A foreclosed home is a home where the person decided they could not pay their loan. The bank than reposes the house and sell it on an auction. You pay what your bid was for the house. |

foreclosed just means that the bank has reposessed it because the original owners stopped paying the bills...The super low price is usually reflective of the fact that the bank has already recieved a lot of payment for the house... So yeah, you pretty much just pay a super low price...but the downpayment itself may need to be a little higher. Depends on the bank. |

No you have to buy it for whatever the banks have it listed as, sometimes its below market and sometimes not, but alot of times the insides look like crap so be careful! |
