What is the best apartment for a single 36 year old man?
I will be moving to Phoenix in September and was wondering, a one bedroom or a studio apartment? I have the suspicion that a studio is too "young" for me.

1 bedroom...you don't want dinner guests eating near your sofa bed.

Well I would think that any aspiring Chippendales dancer needs space! I mean, the costumes, the man thongs..those things take up a ton of room. So I would go with a one bedroom.

Good luck with your move Glacierkid! Be prepared for HEAT! Hope you got the job you applied for too!

EDIT: I agree with Kikime. I think once you are settled in, we should have a Y!A contacts party, and then all go and see your show. WOOT WOOT! So better make it more like 3 bedroom..we'll need the space.

Hmm... As a single 36 year old woman I can't imagine going with anything smaller than a one bedroom. Where would you put all of your stuff?

A one bedroom is best. You won't have to share a kitchen or a bathroom with someone else and you won't have to turn your bed back into a couch in the morning.

kikime
2 bedroom!
Where are we all going to sleep when we come visit!?
I think we established what would happen if you woke up next to me!:(

mikeyob_77
If you can afford it, get a 2 bedroom. Use the 2nd bedroom as a computer / hobby room...or a guest room for friends....otherwise get the 1 bdrm.

fdrc
get the largest apartment you can afford.
Stay away from downtown Phoenix.
Find a place close to your work (assuming you are working).

Its hard to say because we really do not know how much stuff you have...as a 36 year old you LIKELY would want at least a one bedroom so that you could separate living from sleeping areas, but it is hard to say...there are a lot of well-designed studios, and you may be able to save quite a bit of $ per/month for a house or retirement, etc.

JODIE_A.
Well...some people like small spaces and some do not. If you can swing the cost of a larger apartment...go for it. It would be more comfortable.

I just moved out of a GREAT studio apartment in phoenix @ 14th St and Thomas RD called Fountains in the Green. This is what I will say... you have to very smartly furnish it but I LOVED it. The thing that you will have to decide is the level of social activity you want to have at home. Being close to downtown made it unnecessary to have people over much. People who did come over seemed to really like it. You have to be a clean person otherwise you'll want a 1 bedroom so you can stuff your things away and close the door.

Dennis C
oh there aint no such thing as best or worst.

whatever suits your needs are the best.

if you need space, get a 1B.Apart, if you dont do much in the house get a studio.
