NYC...rentals seem to be abundant. Offers of 1st mo free, negotiable broker fees, reduced rentals, etc. I don't know if this has any correlation with the slow housing market. I am guessing it does.

D.C Metro area: From $350,000-495,000. The market has bottomed out this past year here. Homes have be priced perfectly, be unique and be lucky. One couple near here sold their house to a charity for appraised price. The charity is turning around and raffling it off. Some pretty interesting stuff going on....

We're about 40 miles South of St. Louis in a nice rural (country pretty much) area. In one area subdivision you would probably pay $250,000 to $350,000 and about 6 miles down the highway, it could run $150,000 to $200,000. Mine is a private subdivison with about 12 homeowners and a minimum of 2.25 acres per owner. I have 4 bedrooms, dining room, formal living room, family room w/fireplace, 2 full baths and 2.50 acres, ballpark $225,000 (it goes up with improvements, i.e. decks, landscaping, etc.) Interesting question, I am always interested to find the wide range of Answerers' locations.

Over here? More than $800,000, but I'm afraid very few homes are selling now.
