1st call the elcetric company and work out a payment plan. If you don't pay them you won't be able to turn the electric on at any other subsiquent apartments in your name. If you really don't want a room mate you could do one of two things, get a second part time job or sub let the apartment for the remainder of the lease and move someplace less expensive. Good luck, it's a tough spot to be in! |

Call your electricity company. Many utility companies (gas and electricity)have payment plans that let you spread out payments or can help you get assistance. Depending on your income, you may qualify for assistance to help pay for utilities. Good luck. |

I would get a second job and live on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches until I got my finances straight. Call the electric company and see if you can work something out with them - they will work with you if you are low on funds. Think about where you spend your money and try to cut out all of the unnecessary expenditures. It isn't fun to be that frugal and hopefully you'll work through your issues shortly but you must get a handle on your finances. |

See if there is a Home Energy Assistance Program in your area. It is also referred to as HEAP. Call directory assistance or look in front of white or yellow page directory for programs. Also look for community outreach programs contact info. Many times they will help out on a one time basis to help people from falling out out their secure situations and stay working and going to school. Best of Luck. |

Well, not that it is the right thing to do, but I have done it!!! Pretty much same situation, minus electricity problem, but sure it was coming. I just packed up and left, of course leave no forwarding address (duh). If they can't locate you, they can't sue you for the 6 months you owe them. Now where you go, will be up to you. Back home, maybe? Did you loose your job or something? |
