Take a honeymoon. My husband and I have not had one yet. Or even a vacation in the last 9 years (since we have been together). There is a state park in Arkansas where you can dig for precious gems, and my husband would just love to do something like that. Admission to the park is $6. It is almost a thousand miles from where we live, and with gas prices these days.....

The rest of it would go into our IRA.

I'd tell myself that I was going to do something fun and exciting with it... but, then I'd probably just invest it.

First and foremost I would pay off all our outstanding bills. Then I would pay my parents medical bills. Then I would buy some new living room and bedroom furniture. Next I would take my parents and in-laws on a vacation. They have all helped us so much. Then if there is any left I would put it in the bank to live off of, to help support the pay check.

invest it and live off the interest..you could get at least 10,000 per year and never use the principal up. that's like getting an instant raise at work.

First, put it in a high interest earning account until I figure out what to do with it.
Second, start investigating real estate. Right now in some states, housing is slowing or even stagnating, good time to snap up a deal. And maybe even purchase land that looks promising for the next real estate boom.
Third, take a much needed vacation to a warm place!

I would pay off all my bills, and make sure my family was set on theirs. Then I would put some of the remaining money aside for a "rainy day", and have fun with the rest of it.
