I always pretend like it's one day. Yeah, really. Treat them like they were born yesterday and know absolutely nothing about real estate. Teach them everything from the very basics, because most of the ideas they do have are based on erroneous assumptions.
That way, there are no misunderstandings later. And it's actually easier to work with a buyer who does know it all, not just thinks he does. |

I think it all depends on the person. I bought my house at age 20 and it was a fixer upper. I changed the things I wanted to as I could afford it and now I only have 6 more years to pay on it and I will be 43. The house is now worth alot more than what I bought it for!!! |

HI,
I dont believe in the right age for buying a house. Cause certain people are mature and knows how to think a very early age and even sometimes you see people at the age 40 are not responsible.
It all depends on whether are u responsible and able to stick to your commitments. If you feel you are steady and stable and wants to have a property of your own. Go ahead. |

I would say anywhere between 23 years old and 28 years old. Usually right after graduating from College and getting a job or newly weds. Many times single moms or couples who are not married but want to move in together. |

This is from an old news site, but:
First-time home buyers are getting younger: their average age dropped to 31 in 2001. |

I am a Realtor in Louisville KY who specializes in helping first time buyers. Amongst my clients, the average age is about 29 years old but I have had 18 year old clients and clients in their 50's buying their first home (one of the 18 year old clients now owns 3 houses and is less than 22). I was 33 years old when I first bought mine. |

I don't know the official age, but the ones I've done loans for have been mostly in their mid 20's. Right out of college.
But for the government programs, their definition of "first-time homebuyer" is much more loose, so a lot of people would qualify for their special programs. |
