W-2's must be SENT by the employer by January 31. Strangely, 1099's get until mid-February to be sent out. Don;t RUSH to the empoyer's door on February 1. Let the mail come to you. In fact, the IRS advises to wait until at least Feb 15 to contact the employers. |

By law, they have to be postmarked by Jan. 31st. Most employers usually wait as long as they can, because postage costs money, and that extra few days of interest on that money matters to the bean counters. |

Federal law sees to it that your employers, or ex employers mail your W2 by the 2nd of February. However, if you still work there, most places will give it to you with the pay check closest to that date. You may also use you last pay stub from each job for 2006 to file. |

I know without a doubt you can file with a paystub after the 15th of Feb, so I would assume all w2's should be mailed by that date. |
