When do you get a house inspection after getting your offer accepted on a house?
My family put an offer on a short sale house and it got approved, our realtor who is my sister's friend said that we have 17 days after getting our offer accepted to cancel our offer(if we want to). So do we get a house inspection before the 17 days are up or do we get it before closing or something. I keep telling my sister to text our realtor(her friend) to ask, but my sister keeps saying that she doesn't want to annoy her. Even though it's her job to do this kind of stuff.. I know my sister is stupid, lol.

you want an inspection as soon as you have a contract, which should state how much is allocated for repairs that may be found. So, if you have a contract with the Seller that has been approved by the bank, get a certified home inspector on the schedule.

The inspection must take place prior to closing. During those 17 days even though your short sale offer was approved it is under contingency. This means that your party can still back out of the agreement if you have an inspection performed and repairs are found that were not already disclosed to the buyer. Since most short sale homes are sold in as-as condition, nothing will be disclosed to the buyer, that it is why it is essential that your family hires a private contractor to perform a home inspection during this time.
