It means no benefit's as in when you get help with rent costs! i cant think of the term but yeah they want people who work and pay their own rent and council tax

They dont want tenants on benefits.

It means they don't want tenants on benefits - including housing benefit. The only reasons for this that I can think of is that they either think that people on benefits can't be trusted or that they don't intend to declare the income from the rent, or both. Ironically people on benefits have a more secure income, especially in today's climate.

Yes it means no tenants claiming DSS.

This is not because 'they don't declare the income' nor is it because 'DSS tenants trash property (well not all of them) it isn't even because DSS tenants tend to be a bit unreliable.

It is because they have as much chance of getting rent from them as they do of finding some hens teeth on the pavement.

Since LHA was introduced tenants 'by law' have to have the allowance paid to them.

Some pay the chq into their bank account and it is taken by the bank against unauthorised drawings. NO RENT PAID

Some don't have bank accounts and the PO account which all benefit claimants have will not accept payments in. So the chq sits in a drawer and they dont know what to do except avoid the landlord etc. NO RENT PAID

Some take the chqs straight to a Cheque Cashing Service and lose part of it but get cash in hand and then the piss it up against the wall. NO RENT PAID

Some pay the chq into their bank and just spend it anyway. NO RENT PAID

Some quite blatantly tell you it is their 'extra beer allowance' and laugh in your face.

Some get into suich a state they are suicidal because they want to pay their rent but it is all beyond them. The temptation, the complication, the worry.

It is a bit like the benefit system as a whole. There are those who are genuine and need help and those who should be lashed through the streets tied to a donkey's tail and as usual the 'governments' solution is totally wrong and has managed to make matters worse. Putting more fear and stress into those who need assistance and giving yet another means of screwing the system to the wastrels.

DSS tenants are going to find it harder and harder. It even raises the insurance for landlords if tenants are DSS.

EDITED TO ADD

Local Housing Allowance IS NOT paid direct to a landlrod except in very extreme circumstances.

It should be illegal not to pay your rent especially when the money is being given to you by someone else!

H
department of social security DSS, so if it's no DSS they will not let you rent from them, probably because the DSS pay rent a month in arrears. there may be other reasons too

ANF
The Dept of Social Security (DSS) pay for accommodation for people that need it. The problem is that many DSS clients are not too careful in the treatment of the rented accommodation so the no DSS is now self explanatory.

it means you will not be accepted as tennents if you claim any benefits dss stands for Department of social security, includes housing benefit. i dont know why all the answers above have been given thumbs down when they are right??? someone doesnt like the truth maybe

They wont rent to someone who gets housing benefit.
The DSS id the department for social security.

no tenants on benefits...which should be illegal as the rent is often paid directly into the landlords account.
