When you rent from the Housing Assosciation, do you pay rent?
Please help to settle an argument. I have been told that if you rent from the housing assosciation and get a council house, you don't pay rent but I dispute this.

Is it true?

Of course you pay rent ,, possibly more in an association house than in a council property , As councils do not build council houses any more ,,, most people on housing lists end up in association houses or flats as they now have control of most of the social housing available ,, You can still get rent rebate benefits for them, same as for council houses, if the circumstances warrant it .

Hi, If you are renting from a Housing Association and are not working, you will probably pay a small contribution to your rent and Housing Benefit will pay the rest. I know this because I live in a housing association flat which costs £149.00 a week, but I only pay £20 a week to a company what the manges the building. I hope this helps.

PETE HAS CHEESY FEET
of course you pay rent . they don't let people live there in their property's for nothing

How can you rent something and not pay rent? Isn't that obvious?

It might be cheap or free. Housing benefit may be the same as the rent or a little less. It means the national government pays the local government.

This is why there are millions of bogus asylum seekers wanting to get into Britain. Usually free housing is only provided in communist countries for all of its citizens. Now that Chairman Brown is out of office, hopefully taxpayer money will be spent more wisely.

Of course you do - although its possible that you can get Housing Benefit to pay for it. But someone HAS to pay for it.
