My Take on It

You would have to get with a commercial real estate firm in your town. It would be easier to buy a bar that someone is selling, or buy a building that already was a restaurant/bar and has the plumbing etc set up.
But, having said that, just because you find the perfect place, doesn't mean you can turn it into a bar. You have to usually go through the city and get a permit, and also the state needs to license you to sell liquor. Sometimes there will even be a public meeting where neighbors can voice their opinion about having a bar in the area. |

And before you do anything else, learn Ohio's laws re owning and operating a bar - or any other kind of business. Remember that most businesses fail within 6 months, which is darned expensive. Also, these are not good economic times to be trying to sell luxuries to people when so many can't afford necessities. Also, you should have hands-on experience with any type of business before opening your own, so work for a bar for a year to learn what only experience can teach about the business (or any other business you consider opening). |
