In my part of the world, north-central British Columbia, real estate is very cheap, compared to other places.
But I think you want to consider the issue from other perspectives too. What is your tolerance for blackflies? They have driven animals and people crazy, literally. We have about two days of halter-top weather a year.
You wouldn't even have to build a cabin. There are many places that already have cabins on them, built by back-to-the-landers from the 1970s.
Try renting first ....

Mexico is very cheep.
The Andarondacks in NY (spelling may be wrong).
Anywhere upstate New York that is close to Canada.
I own over 7 acres up there and the price was so cheep that we paid it in full. The taxes are ridiculously cheep up there too.
The Catskill Mountains are good, except by the caves of Howe's Caverns.
There's also South and North Carolina, very cheep there but may not be as secluded as you'd like.
So, the best that I know is upstate NY and Mexico. I'm sure there's many other places such as Canada and Texes etc.

Ohio, land here is cheaper than many othr places. Pennsylvania is too but they're taxes all of the time will drive you crasy after a while.

Mexico.outer Mongolia. you did not mention which country you want to live in. but if it is in the US then look for deserted areas with some kind of environmental problem that decreases the property value and make the area bad to live in .real cheap!!!
