For the past 5 months I've complained to my landlord about a leak in the bathroom ceiling. He came in with a friend of his and torn down half of the bathroom ceiling found out that pipes were leaking from the apartment upstairs and put up a plastic sheet and said he'll fix it or have someone come in and fix it later. He never did. Finally after the 7th phone call to him complaining about the leak, I left a message that I was calling in outside service to fix it and I was paying for it with the rent. He sent over a guy who pulled down the plastic, saw the pipes leaking and nailed up a piece of wooded board. That person said he could fix it, but the landlord didn't pay him for coming out and looking at the problem and he doesn't think the landlord will pay him if he came and fix the problem. What is my next step? Should I have outside services come in and fix the problem and pay with the rent or have them bill the landlord directly?
