the further you get away from civilization and basic services. as far as cities go, look at the demand (detroit is getting cheaper with so many people leaving...) it also depends how far on the outskirts of the city you are willing to go (ie, the further away from civilization again...)

The land is least expensive where there is the least demand. You would have to search various states and counties to find the "least" expensive land. Start with the states with the least population.

come to the high desert here in california, u.s.a. where you can purchase acres of land and build gigantic homes and estates for cheap, expensive but way cheaper than you would than anywhere else in the surrounding area, than to california and n.y. are the highest cost of living states in u.s.a.!!!!!
