tack123453566 | Where in the world can you live on $12,000 a year? |
|

Probably any third world country on earth. For example, in Kenya (which is not exactly third world, but their economy is not as strong as ours) or even Mexico, 12,000.00 AMERICAN dollars, or the equivalent of, would be a nice salary.
I know a lot of Mexicans that wire money to their families in Mexico and they say that $500.00 would be about the equivalent of $3000.00 to $5000.00 here in the U.S. depending on where in Mexico they are.
In the bigger cities of any country, life is more expensive, but if you live in a rather rural area, you would be able to make it on $12,000.00 easy. |

In the vast majority of the world, you would be well-off to have $12,000 per year. The cost of living would be the deciding factor. Housing and food are the biggest costs of living. in many countries, taxes would cripple someone making that much taxable income, however, in many countries, including third-world countries and socialist economies. |

India, china, places in eastern europe are good. India is deloped and most people speak english. China its not too hard to find someone that speaks or can read english. Go to the cia world factbook and look up countries by per capita GDP the lower the number the cheaper. Also consider the expense of flights back to your home nation, immigration rules, etc. Eastern europe might be your best bet sanity wise because its trivial to take a trip to england. |

A few years ago, i would have told you South of France,Spain or Italy but today, a single dollar doesn't worth anything.

I'm originally from rural Iowa and you COULD live there on that money, but it wouldn't be fun. Your question didn't provide important details like whether this is a single person, a family, gross or net income, etc. |
