Where is a good place to move? Why?
I would like to move somewhere that the cost of living is affordable, housing is reasonable, good school systems, wages with an B.A. degree or higher pays well, crime rate is not high, and a great place to raise children.

Since I am in Oregon, I guess I should pitch it.

There are two Oregons. One is along I-5 that runs along the west coast of Oregon. Then there is the rest of Oregon, on the right side (and the good side, IMHO) of the Cascade Mountains.

The west coast of Oregon doesn't get snow, or if it does, it is really cool because it rarely happens. Some areas get quite a bit of rain. The Oregon coast is nothing short of spectacular, and there are quaint coastal towns that dot the coast line.

On the central and east side of Oregon, there are four seasons and it tends to be very dry with lots of sun. With the exception of Bend, most of the central and eastern Oregon towns have affordable housing.

In my area, a BA will start you at about $35,000 from what I gather from the ads in the paper. Most of the crime on this side of Oregon revolves around drugs, but our crime rates are fairly low. My area has great schools.

The coolest thing about where I live is that I can see something different in a day trip. There is an area just north of me that has snow year 'round. Or if I am sick of snow, I can get in the car and in a couple hours be somewhere that I dont need a jacket. You could realistically snowmobile in the morning and play golf in the afternoon from my town just about year 'round. I find that very attractive.

Oh, and there is no sales tax in Oregon. And you cannot pump your own gas.

Other places I have visited that I would consider moving to:

Reno, NV
Redding, CA
San Antonio, TX
Ocala, FL

For information on certain areas: http://www.census.gov has alot of good info. I have used citysearch too.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
