After posting yesterday about the best place to find rentals in Manchester a few of the replies came back saying Manchester was an awful place to live. If this is the case, then where is the best place in the UK to live? I'm only looking for around 6months to one year but obviously want to live in a nice place which has good employment rates, etc and not too expensive (max £450 per month)

manchester is a good place to live, its lively and has great music,
but i would say leeds, is the best if your a young person, because its lively plenty of things to do, and very multi cultured, so i feel i live in teh best place leeds!
dont listen below u will get somewhere for 450 a mth, not down south though stay up north i pay £350 a mth |

Its a bit like asking what is the best colour on here ... what do you want. Wokingham came up in a survey recently as the best place, as the salaries, schools, crime levels etc were the best in the country, but if you want a music scene and lots of young people, you'd hate it etc
The Uk really is a great place to live and we paint a really bad picture of ourselves sometimes. I've lived in Aus, the US and the middle east, but keep coming back to the UK.
People of Britain, if the place you live is awful, some of that may be due to you or the people around you .. lets work with the people around us to make the country great and not just slag off our home all the time. Don't just accept that bad is good enough or inevitable.

You can rent a modern one-bedroomed flat in Kidderminster (Toner Estate Agents) for £350 pcm. House prices are very low in the Stourport and Kidderminster areas (my daughter lived there) so rented properties are cheaper. You're looking 18-20 miles West of Birmingham |

I think Cambridge is the best place to live. There are lots of things to do, and the whole city is bike friendly. |

In the south.
You can't rent best places as low as £450 a month unless you are just renting a room and sharing all other facilities.
No guarantee re employment prospects although many places will be taking on Christmas staff. |

why not Bedford or Milton Keynes,loads of rental choice,both are good locations,for travelling to London,Cambridge,Oxford,and loads more places,Milton Keynes has its own large shopping centre,and ski slopes.both places always have loads of jobs on offer |
