The real definition of a condo is not a structure but a method of ownership. So the structure could be a single family home or a boat dock or an office or whatever. Most of the time the structure is an apartment style building and you own the unit you live in-well you own the air space with the unit.
That means that most repairs are taken care of by the association. You have very little upkeep. When you own a single family home you have to maintain the roof, the yard and everything. I like that and would not be happy living in an apartment building and paying maintenance to an association.
You need to decide which you want.
In my area most condos do not go up in value very well, but there are some in downtown Ft Worth that seem to do very well. |

Home, because condos are luxury apartments. Apartments are close. If you want more privacy, you are not going to get that with a condo. |

they're both very nice.. but i'd go with a house. A condo you have NOOO yard.. and where are children or animals suppose to play?? def. a house. |

It would depend on what you wanted from a house. A house is a lot of maintenance that you have to do. Not only to the actual building but to the property. YOU"RE responsible for the side walk cleaning in the winter if you live where it snows or the seasons change, that means the leafs also. You have to deal with the lawn if you have one where as if you live in a condo those things are taken care of for you by the owners association. You have to think about those types of things when you buy. Are you single or do you have children That might determine how much of a yard you want around the house. Or if you have dogs that need space to play and run. These are just some of the things that you have to think about. Maintenance of the building and the property is a very big part of being an owner how much of if do you want to have to do for yourself??? |

depends on the neighbors.
If you want no outside work and close neighbors and can handle the fees go with the condo.
If you want a garden or a pond or just like changing things out side and want a yard with some space and don't want to be too close to neighbors then go with a house. |

Depends on what you want. Some condo/townhouses look like single family homes and have access to a common area or private patio area but you don't have to do the yard work. You do have to pay the monthly dues that cover the common elements. You may be restricted as to what you can do to the outside of the home.
Single family homes usually have more flexibility as to what you can do with the exterior but a lot of newer subdivisions still have associations that can make rules an regulations. You may also have a monthly or yearly association fee. You will have to do your own year work and exterior maintenance on the house.
You can find both single family and condos in the same price range with the same square feet and features so it is really up to you if you want to do the yard work or not. |

It depends on your current family or, no family, situation. Both have maintenance expenses. If you are single, I would opt for the Condo. |

depends.. if you have a family den choose house but if you're alone choose condo.. |

If you can find a house for the same price as the condo and in good condition, definitely House. Why? - privacy, freedom to upgrade/change, better to entertain, easier to sell, don't have to worry about buying another house if you want to start a family. Yes, you have to clean your own yard but in a condo you pay Home Owner's Association fee to have someone clean for you. As a homeowner, you can pay people to clean if you don't want to do it yourself.
Condo is good if you want to live near city life and w/o kids. |

They both have their points. The better one would based on your preferences. |
