Deano&Stevie | Who's sick of people dissing people just because we would rather live in a council/housing association? |
I live in housing association property, i work, i buy nice clothes, my house is nice inside, clean, i have a nice car, but people always put a stamp on you, just because i live in a council house that im a doll doser, or cant afford nothing, whats so bad about living in a council house? Additional Details people dont pay my rent ect. as i go to work so i pay all my rent, poll tax plus other bills myself. so why would u say that for? not all people who live in rented houses are on the doll. |

In my area housing association property is great, rent is around half the cost of renting from a private landlord.
The property is maintained , at no cost to the tenant, and usually problems are sorted within a few days.
There is no lease for just a few months, you stay there for as long as you wish.
They are non profit making organisations, yet they are not subsidised , all profit must go to repairs, updates and general maintenance, no down payments are made, no massive deposits.
I have always been in favour of housing for all.
Maggie Thatchers Conservative mob almost ruined it all by selling off property , the reason of course was because there was no profit in it, and that is what the Conservatives are all about, making more profit for the folk that support them.
Private property all over the world is being repossessed, I bet these people wish they were in association property now. |

Nothing is wrong with living in a council house - I grew up in one and had some of the best days of my life.
My problem is not where people live or what they live in. My problem is with people who dont want to work and expect the state to house them.
Many people who live in affordable houses feel the same. |

Your rent and therefore your income due to these savings is subsidised by the taxpayer. |
|

yeee haa

who put a stamp on you? and the housing association rent you a place because you are on a lowish income.. but allot of people who do live in a council house are on the dole and tax payers are footing the bill. but nobody can have a problem with you if you are paying your way. |

I would love to live in a housing association/council property. My rent is so expensive I can hardly afford to eat!
I grew up in a council house, on a council estate too. |

Nothing at all I totally agree with you about the stigma though . I knew someone that used to work for the electric company and the highest number of people that fiddled their meters to get free electric was on a posh new privately owned estate . So good and bad wherever you live . |

What's different about a HA property? Can't comment on that I don't know how you apply and get one, but council houses are suppose to be for poor people.
I figure low cost housing like council houses are for unfortunates that have not done well because of circumstances they can not change, not for people going to work and earning the same as me.
If you go to work and earn a decent wage, you should be able to afford your own house and not have one partly paid for by the rest of us workers.
I'm pretty fed up of paying for other people to have things that I can't afford when I am making my own way in the world without asking anyone to pay for me. I don't have a nice car. |

Nothing is wrong with it. Look out for lots of people struggling to repay their unrealistically high mortgages turning to the council to meet their housing needs in the future.
Council housing makes sense to me. I work, but can't afford to buy. Private rents are even more expensive than buying. I would rather pay £240 a month, the local council average, than pay £600 a month, the local private average. Not forgetting you only get a secure tenancy in public housing. |

nothing. people are jealous that you get cheap rent when they have to pay extortionate prices. of course you have nice things, other people have less money for luxuries cuz they pay higher rent. |

They are jealous because they don't have one. |

But if you have a nice car, etc why should the state pay for your housing? |
