Who takes pictures of the interior and exterior of homes for sale?
I like to look at houses for sale on local real estate sites. And I like taking pictures. It seems that the houses that have pictures would probably sell better. Could I contact a company and take pictures of houses that don't have pictures listed for a little extra cash? With the economy the way it is, I need to make some extra money.

;)
Typically, the real estate agent themselves. Often, the agent is also an appraiser who may also take pics to help find similar homes to compare yours with. ;)

Usually the agent who lists the house.

I always figured it was the real estate agent who took the pictures.
You could find out who the seller or the agent is and contact them about that though. They might agree to you taking pics.

It’s the agent who lists the house. Unless it’s a high end property the agent isn’t likely to pay for something they can do themselves. They don’t get paid until the home sells so every expense they incur is essentially a loss until they make a sale. What I’m getting at is the majority of agents aren’t going to spend money they don’t have to.

The agent will take the pics or hire someone to do it. Some are better than others. You can often tell the good agents from the bad this way. It's a very easy thing to do, and personally I wouldn't pay for it.
As for the comment about agents being appraisers, yes and no, but officially no, because it would be a conflict of professional interest. An agent has to research comparable houses to determine price, but they do not come up with an appraisal. It is the mortgage company's job to find an independent appraiser to base the loan approval on.

The agent will take the pictures and many do not hire outside people unless it's an high end house. "With the economy the way it is" real estate agent's funds are tight too!

This could have done well a couple of years ago.

CW L
the listing broker takes the pics

When I was in college I did this, I did interiors and exteriors. I cost the agents money so I mostly did exteriors. This was in the mid and late 80's before the internet was used and digital cameras weren't used. I could take me half a day or more to do interiors but maybe 2 mins to an hour to do an exterior.

The picks were very nice I usually made about $250 a day plus costs. Mostly B&W and I would develop and print the fim the same day. Not bad for a partime jop while in college

With the interet and digital cameras most Realtors will take them themselves. They can get pics that are good enough and save money. Before the internet real estate agents would use alot more mailing and print advertisement. Now all you do is download it on the internet or send the file to the printer. Some real estate agent dither don't think pics are worth the effort or they are just too lazy. The ones that understand the benefit can do easily enough themselves.

Not sure how how much of a mrket there is for it with digital making it so easy for them to do it themselves. But you never know.

Now I take my own, I have even used the sellers pics if they have good ones.

Leo F
The listing agent takes the pictures, but sometimes they are lazy and don't. Appraisers will take pictures after the prop is sold. No one is going to pay you to take pictures.
